"The Awakening Compilation Vol. 2"

Don't think I've ever heard a more worthy 'Various Artists' disc than this Awakening Compilation! Seeking to promote independent Christian folk/rock musicians, this volume truly does the business - 12 acts, 18 full tracks - and every one a winner! American artists all (though Paul Colman was born in Australia), the majority remain relatively unknown, although pop-folkster Andrew Peterson has received increased prominence with his recent signing to Watershed Records and Vigilantes of Love have long had a strong cult following. VoL's 'Paralyzed', taken from "To The Roof Of The Sky", is in
fact the rockiest sound on this otherwise fairly acoustic collection, their second song having a mellower feel. Other impressive contributions come from Dog Named David(2), Holland Rhythm Band(2), Threefold Cord and Karen Bradley - the only female lead artist to surface here - and how! Shane Bernard (formerly of duo Caleb and Barnard) provides 'Prodigal Me', picked from his innovative "Rocks Cry Out" release, which has amassed immense acclaim with all who have heard it. Mitch McVicker, too, offers a cut from his debut solo - produced, as it was, by the late Rich Mullins.
A fantastic come-together, revealing the amazing talent that exists in the US 'underground' Church. With photos, biographical material and full lyrics to all tracks (shame about the cover-design though), this is one gem of a disc. Be 'awakened' by these fresh and exciting sounds!

SONS AND DAUGHTERS
songs of worship
by Sherri Youngward

When we heard Sherri on the CD from Mars Hill “MarsHillWorship ”, we sought out one of her own recordings. This CD was produced in 1999 and is very good. Sons and Daughters is Sherri Youngward's third solo album. Known for her strong and unique writing abilities, this release is more worship oriented. She has a powerful, captivating voice too. Hear her stunning acoustic version of 'Amazing Grace' at the start of the recording. Album produced by Aaron Sprinkle.
