"
Songs In The Key Of The Spirit, Vol. 2 - Let Us Burn For You"
Carlos Bosque was an elder and worship leader at The Father's
House International, Jacksonville, Florida for 12 years. Now with his own music ministry, 'Key of the Spirit', he works in association with local churches in Florida and beyond (including Puerto Rico), sharing his many songs of
worship, some of which were received in dreams; others being written spontaneously during times of worship. With 'Let Us Burn For You' Carlos presents a collection of his own new songs. The first three tracks are
upbeat, each also infused with a strong Latin flavour. Though I found the opening tune rather irritating, the sense of joy and freedom expressed in the following 'Psalm126' is infectious, being delightfully celebrated with a warm
saxophone sound, while both sax and trumpet blaze on 'Amor Verdadero', in fact the only song on the album sung in Spanish. The mood then changes to one of more gentle intimacy for the remainder of the album, starting with a simple
but moving spontaneous song. This tone of simple, devotional worship continues on the lovely 'Jesus, You're my everything' and the adorational 'How I love You' - Carlos's fine vocals being accompanied on most of these songs by
delicate guitar work and a variety of soft percussion. While playing-time runs to over 70 minutes, a fair amount of time is taken up on several tracks with (over-)emotional prayer, speaking in tongues etc, much of which I
personally found irksome and unconducive to personal devotion. This is particularly true of the 'Spontaneous song', which eventually degenerates into a melee of inharmonious sounds. That aside, there are certainly some very fine
moments of both musicianship and worship on this original and sensitive venture.
