BELIEVE
Recorded live at City Bible Church
During ‘Generation Unleashed 2000’
in Portland, Oregon

Worship leaders:  Donna Lasit and Jason Olkowski
The title track “Believe” written by Donna Lasit is on the new Hillsongs CD ‘For This Cause’ - the first “non-Hillsongs” song to go on their CDs.

Comments from the CD cover:
Believe was recorded live at Generation Unleashed in Portland, Oregon. This one of a kind conference, in its third year, has exploded into one of the most sought after destinations for young people of all ages in the Northwest. The music on this album is an expression of what God has been cultivating in the youth ministry of our church over the last five years. Written and composed by young singers, song writers, and musicians in our Generation Church, the words of the songs are to-the-point and we hope are free of religious rhetoric. Our goal was to thematically express the heart cry of this generation to God through song. Dependence on God, true Christianity, freedom, healing, true love, and the presence of God, are just a few of the themes that are expressed on this album. We hope that you are moved, encouraged, and challenged to pick up your cross and follow Jesus as you listen to these songs.

CONSU(ME)
from Portland Bible College

Portland Bible College was established in 1967 as a leadership training ministry of City Bible Church, Portland, Oregon. Students come from all over the world to find God and His will for their lives and to prepare for the future. The “PBC Chapel” has become well known for the moving of the Holy Spirit and the release of heart felt, passionate worship. The anointed young people who lead these chapels have written the songs and are leading the entire student body in a glorious worship explosion.
Musicians on Consu(me):
Piano - Justin Lueck
Keyboards - Jeremy Koepke
Lead Guitar - Luke Deese, Peter Wardenaar
Bass Guitar - Gilbert Tan, Esther Wijaya
Acoustic Guitar - Chris Lincoln
Drums - Jason Leach
Percussion - Greg Gelnette
Saxophone - Steve Gunvaldson
Vocalists - Angie Malmin, Trey Mears, Marian Morton, PBC Chorale (directed by Eugene Greco)

Recorded live at Portland Bible College / City Bible Church Mar 1999.
This is one of the best live praise & worship CDs to come our way this year. We liked the way it flowed from song to song with very contemporary songs, yet with a mellow tone created by the PBC choral. Tracks 6, 7, and 8 are three great flowing praise & worship songs.

"Consu(me)"

Portland Bible College is one of the foremost Charismatic Bible schools in the USA's Northwest. Recently there has been what is described as a 'glorious worship explosion' in the PBC 'chapel', accompanied by an increased depth of spiritual intensity and desire. This recording is born out of the desire to share this dynamic with a generation of worshippers who are seeking 'more than just a form or style, but the consuming presence of God'.
All songs are new and written by some of the student-musicians who feature here, including five songs by Chris Lincoln, who leads worship throughout. None of the ten tracks presented are racy, though several are upbeat with a powerful feel; others, like 'I give my all to You' and 'To be close to You' are sensitive and profound. The singing and instrumentation are very good for 'part-time' musicians, and there can be no doubting the passion exuding from these keen worshippers, evident in all the lyrics and in the sense of heart-felt expression. This is climaxed in the title cut 'Consume me' and my
favorite 'With You'. However, I feel that much of the music here is slightly weak; a familiar Vineyard sound is often evident, and I don't find myself singing or humming these tunes after the disc has stopped playing - the impact isn't that strong.
Nevertheless, an encouraging and challenging album from a team unfamiliar with the Christian music business. Once again we cannot fail but be impressed with the high level of spiritual commitment in the ranks of the Church's youth.

Worship Team for Big Big God

Big Big God Worship Team

"Big Big God"

Anyone who has heard Roger Hodge's independent release 'Pressin' On' will be excited by the appearance of this follow-up. That '97 offering was a wonderfully stirring performance; Mike Rimmer from UK's CrossRhythm's magazine claiming that 'Roger Hodges and band flow like no other band I've heard'. And this from a music journo who reviews heaps of new recordings every month!
A worship musician from Amarillo, Texas, Roger has performed with the likes of Phillips Craig and Dean, and Dennis Jernigan. His new project comes (believe it or not) with an even tighter and fuller sound than it's predecessor(!), containing mainly upbeat, flowing numbers, with a few gentler exceptions. Every song works well, and carries it's own mark of individuality. Catchy songs like the starter, 'You Are'; the triumphant sounds of 'Psalm 33' and 'The Lamb has Overcome'; and Jim Stern's 'All That I Want', with it's most infectious hook-line (you'll be singing it days later!). This song is in fact the only track not written or co-written by Roger.
'You Are Faithful' contains the album's rockiest edge, with a gutsy lead guitar solo from maestro Lincoln Brewster, who in fact features throughout. 'The Son Is Rising' brings Lincoln up to co-lead vocals, and also sees him doing some fine mandolin picking. The most sensitive track is definitely 'You've Captured My Heart', where the harmony sounds of Angela Graham and Roger Hodges create a stunning passionate effect.
Offering praise fitting to a 'Big Big God' requires a big, big sound, and thankfully, that's just what this album provides. Yep, there's no doubting it - this is one cooking album!

"Diamonds"

I knew this album was going to sound unique when I read the (serious) warning label stuck to the cover; 'May cause distraction. Spirit may intensify this effect. Use care when driving or operating heavy machinery'. Hmm, interesting! Doug Gilmore and wife Rhonda have been active as worship leaders in Cleveland, Ohio for over 14 years, placing an emphasis on waiting on the Lord in extended, uninterrupted worship. This is indeed how Doug leads proceedings on this 73-minute expression of celebration and intimacy - a collection of original songs interspersed with spontaneous 'prophetic selahs', as musicians are led along in heart-felt worship.
Beginning with a couple of punchy, triumphant songs of praise, the mood changes quite dramatically on 'God has ascended' and beyond, to slower, deeply sensitive offerings, often with delicate accompaniment on piano and violin. Not all are sing-along choruses, but all are deeply inspiring pieces - most moving. The title-track 'Diamonds', like 'Lost in You', was penned by Karen Workman, and is a gorgeously simple song of worship: so too is the infectious lilt of track nine, based on Psalm 99:5. Karen provides background vocals and keyboards too - her husband Peter being the album's able producer. The final tune is a carefree percussion-based celebration inspired by Psalm 150, and comes complete with excellent horn, string and harmonica sections, though with a rather simplistic melody.
Overall "Diamonds" is an intriguing and inspiring album, well worth checking out.
