"I Bow Down"
Daryl Daughtry is a well-respected Christian musician who has been making records since the late seventies. Passionate about worship, he travels around the country
leading workshops and speaking at conferences. He is also the founder of a leading praise and worship web-site, and has a book on worship very soon to be published. "I Bow Down" is Daryl's latest studio
presentation; a collection of mainly new and self-composed songs all single-minded in their God-focus. The music flows along in gentle or moderately upbeat worship, always with plenty of creativity and diversity, ensuring the
listener's constant attention. The musicianship is exemplary throughout; hardly surprising considering the involvement of, amongst others, Tim Coleman (wonderful sax-imrov's!), the production genius of David Whitehead and a
proficient backing-vocal team. Most notable tracks (to this reviewer) include the gliding 'Dance with David', (co-written by wife Janet Daughtry), the infectiously simple 'I will be (like a Tree)', and the deep intimacy
of the piano-based title track. In fact, these simple words 'I Bow Down' expresses the spiritual theme of the entire project. Non-Daughtry songs finding a place here include Paul Baloche's 'I See the Lord', 'Did you See the
Mountains Tremble', written by Martin Smith from Delirious?, and the Jewish-flavoured 'Lift up your Heads'. A sensitive and inspirational palate, offered with Daryl's note of thanks 'to the Lord Jesus, for taking me
beyond the veil and into the presence of the Father for eternity'. What a precious and poignant reality to all those who truly know the Lord.
