"Imagerical
"
Not content in creating beautiful worship tones, Nova Scotia born Matt Brouwer also invents new words to describe them! The
term 'imagerical' was concocted to invoke the idea of mystery or the unknown in his music while also involving imagery - hence album title and song with same name. Matt began leading worship at the fledgling 'mnw' (Monday
Night Worship) while studying at Prairie Bible College, Alberta. Numbers grew rapidly, a 'worship tour' was organised, and soon record companies were champing at the bit for a deal. Newly signed to Reunion Records, home to Michael
W. Smith, Clay Crosse, Kathy Troccoli and many other world-famous artists, one cannot but wonder whether similar renown awaits this truly accomplished singer/songwriter.
With slick, masterful production, "Imagerical" is pure pop-worship at it's absolute finest. Lyrically, songs comprise heart-induced prayer
cries, simple, focused adoration and non-cliched expressions of spiritual honesty (e.g. the autobiographical 'Sanity'). Musically, many moods surface, from pop-shuffle to pop-funk to edgy pop-rock - utterly radio-friendly,
every track. Complimenting these are those tender, sensitive ballads such as 'Breathe', 'I wanna see you' or the deeply moving 'Consecrate'
, graced occasionally by gentle violin or the warm harmonies of Jill Paquette.
The cover pic may show Matt with his head in the clouds,
but the concept of this album is firmly rooted in reality. These are songs you will relate to, songs you will sing along to, and songs you will come back to again and again. Mr Redman watch out, there's a new Matt in town! And
without any doubt, we'll be hearing more from this man!
