Hailing from Rochester, New York (with it's fascinating spiritual history), Chris Dupre has lived in Kansas
City for the past decade, recently heading the worship team of the Metro Christian Fellowship (with it's own intriguing history). This live recording is Dupre's third solo output - his previous "Divine
Romance" being part of the 'In My Father's House' series. The songs are all Chris-composed, and while showing substantial musical diversity, are all accessible and genuinely worshipful.
I find his flowing sound & style comparable on occasion to that of Scott Brenner (on 'You are there' he also shares a song-title), to the worship sensibilities of Graham Kendrick (e.g.
'Glory and Honour', my personal favourite) and, on a couple of tracks to the edgier tones of David Ruis, with whom he has also co-recorded. On the closing
'As a seal' Julie Meyer lends her delicate lead vocals, as too on the deep
and tender spontaneous piece. Strong guitar riffs ring out on some tracks, while violin strains grace others. This could be Chris Dupre's last album for some time - a man of intercession, he
is devoting more time to Kansas City's International House of Prayer ministry. Meanwhile, "Worthy is the Lamb" is a passionate expression - sure to strike a chord with any worshipper's heart.
