"All I Can Say"
David Crowder has proved himself as a proficient and popular worship leader at events in Texas and beyond for a number of years, receiving particular notice at the
mammoth DC/LA superconference in 2000. Being in the vein of slick young worship musicians such as Charlie Hall and Chris Tomlin, it's no surprise to find him featured on the "Passion - road to Oneday" compilation with his
potent 'Joyful noise/I will not be silent' medley. A stirring rendition of these two songs are given here, along with other slices of funk-rock worship (ala Lincoln Brewster!) by way of 'He was there' and the more chunky
'Rain down'. Lyrics have an original feel, nearly all being written by Crowder himself - one obvious exception is the traditional 'Come Thou Fount', here turned into a victorious marching anthem (with an acoustic version showing up
as a hidden bonus). Songs like 'Lift my eyes' and the 8-minute 'Cry mercy' are moody and deeply worshipful, but the real standout is the acoustic opener 'All I can say', an exceptionally beautiful song in which David opens himself
in honesty before God. Truly sublime. This hour-long recording is one entire worship experience - indeed I haven't encountered such a spiritually/emotionally intense set since Kate Miner's superb "Live at the
Strip" project a year or two back. "All I Can Say" may be a 1998 recording, but it's definite strengths have only recently been discovered by many. Its a discovery well worth making!
