Friends of the Bridegroom - taken from the CD insert

Friends of the Bridegroom is a ministry organization committed to equipping forerunners before the Second Coming of Jesus. Jesus declared John the Baptist to be “the greatest man born of a woman”. John described himself in his forerunner ministry as a ‘Friend of the Bridegroom’ (Jn. 3:29). He went before the First Coming of the Lord to prepare a people to receive the embrace of the heavenly Bridegroom empowering them to walk out the first commandment as wholehearted lovers of God. The Lord will raise up forerunners with this same focus before His Second Coming. Jesus also described the apostles as ‘Friends of the Bridegroom’ (Mt. 9:14-15).
The principal activities of the FOTB ministry organization are to host regional conferences as well as bi-annual conferences held in Kansas City, MO, development of ministry materials on FOTB themes, and to train individuals at the Forerunner School of Prayer.

We're used to hearing projects at Goldusa that for one reason or another could be termed 'different', but 'Burning Desire' took us quite by surprise. While there is undoubtedly much beautifully flowing worship throughout the recording, there are numerous occasions of what could best be described as 'spoken outbursts' from non other than pastor and conference speaker Mike Bickle - especially during the initial 25-minute set. These are unusual and rather off-putting; and such a contrast to the decidedly appealing worship content. Some may love the overall effect, others may strongly dislike it; but you can hardly deny - this is an incredible output.

Additional comments - after playing the CD three times we find the “loud short statements” made at various times in the initial 25 min session not quite as annoying, but we still think this would be a better CD without them. One thing for sure - the music certainly flows in the spirit.

"Burning Desire"

Friends of the Bridegroom see Jesus as a passionate Bridegroom, transcendent King and righteous Judge. But it's the former theme that is so markedly expressed on this decidedly intriguing output from the Harp and Bowl Conference 2000. These worshippers are clearly caught up in a profound romance and it feels almost intrusive to listen in on the most intimate exchange of love-poetry with their betrothed.
The 25 minute 'Burning' medley sees Monty Poe, Carol Oosthuis and JoAnn McFatter pour out their hearts in a burning love for Christ and a yearning for His Fire to consume them completely. Many of these eight songs are spontaneous and follow a basic melody - the title song itself is wonderfully infectious with strong duet vocals. The piano-based 'Steady gaze' is equally intimate, and captures the soft, wistful voice of Misty Edwards, while the beautiful 'Under the waterfall' is a Vineyard composition and the only non-original track included here. The depth of emotion revealed by Julie Meyer on 'I never knew' is both intense and charming - a tender 6-min flow of heart-felt worship, the effect of which is reduced to some extent by the spoken interjections of prayer leader Mike Bickle. Mike's contributions, here and elsewhere, are intended to create a two-way dialogue between Bride and Bridegroom - a novel idea which works in places but gets irksome on those most tender pieces, which would be better left untouched. The album closes with a series of poems composed by Gary Wiens and read by same over a backdrop of ethereal music - these climax in 'Gone' with the highly
satisfying vision of being taken home to Paradise by the Lord.
"Burning Desire" is an unhurried journey allowing plenty of space to focus and be stilled. Overall, it is a deeply worshipful collection, sure to inspire, and help create within the listener that same burning desire.

CLEARLY HEAR HIS VOICE
Broken Walls
by Jonathan Maracle
Tyendinaga Territory, Ontario Canada

Jonathan Maracle has a ministry to Native Americans in Canada and the United States. This is the third CD released by Mr. Maracle and his band. We enjoyed the two previous albums ‘Rise Up Mighty Warrior’ and ‘Brokenwalls’, and now we have the best yet! A studio recording that is a fusion between Native sounds and contemporary praise & worship. The first part is pretty good, but starting at track #8 with the almost nine min. “Proclamation” of who Christ is, done to a Native American beat, right through song #11 “Face to Face” you will discover one great song after another.
This album is a real blessing! Tom Lennie’s review is below.

We like the vision statement of BrokenWalls taken from their
website.
“To bring unity to the family, the church, the country, and the world.
To go behind the walls that have been built and destroy them from the inside with the awesome power and love of Jesus Christ, through prayer, praise, the Word, and our testimony.
To stir up, equip, and launch people into battle against the enemy through intercessory prayer, warfare praise, and a hunger for the Word.
To build a whole, healthy body that does not look at one another through cultural preference but through the eyes of Jesus.
To be a body that says, “I don’t know God if I can’t get along with you”.

The Band:
Jonathan Maracle - lead vocals & guitar
Linda Maracle - vocals & keyboard
Kris Delorenzi - vocals & bass guitar
Scott Offord - drums
with added help on this recording from Dan Cutrona on keyboards

RISE UP MIGHTY WARRIOR
Broken Walls

Canada

Broken Walls is:
Jonathan Maracle - lead vocals, all guitars, flute, & bgv
Linda Maracle - keyboards & backup vocals
Kris DeLorenzi - bass guitar, double bass, violin, & bgv
Scott Offord - drums & percussions

Broken Walls is an anointed music ministry led by Jonathan and Linda Maracle. They combine contemporary rock with traditional native music and add powerful lyrics that will turn the sinner to God and challenge the Christian to press on. As they lift up Jesus Christ with their music, God's presence begins to fall and work on the hearts of many people, both young and old. The ministry of Broken Walls is truly a blessing to the body of Christ!

"Broken Walls - Clearly Hear His Voice"

Jonathan Maracle is clearly a man who takes his faith seriously - passion and depth resonate from the words of every song on this, his second album in twelve months, and his vision is for 'walls' that divide the Church to come tumbling down as Christians everywhere unite in fervent commitment.
Having varied experience over almost twenty years as song-writer, lead vocalist, worship leader and producer, it's no surprise that musical excellence resounds from this recording. The atmosphere evoked by traditional North American chants is evident on many tracks; especially the intriguing 'Healing song', the 'Nia:wen' offering of thanksgiving, with it's
pow-wow drum beat, and the bold 9-min 'prophetic'-style 'Proclamation', which sounds kinda like something from Don Potter's "Warfare" project. But mingled with these ethnic, percussion-driven pieces comes a gorgeous modern worship chorus, a flowing pop-rock number and the light funk intro of 'More of You' which soon breaks into a punchy Gen-x style chorus! The set closes with a short Mohawk chorus composed by Jonathan's late father and sung here by his two young sons.
With a style and sound that change from song to song, it's difficult to pin the Maracle man down! Suffice to say that this is a challenging listen, both musically and lyrically, but one that will be well rewarded.

CLOSER
by Kent Henry
Studio album recorded by Jim & Will Stern and
Kent Henry at Kent Henry Ministries
St. Louis, MO

Additional vocals by Jessica Stern.
Special quest on track #6 Ariel Henry.
Seven songs are Kent Henry originals, two from Jim Stern, one by Will Stern, plus a Martin Smith song, and track #6 from Hillsong Australia.

Another quality recording from Kent Henry. From the title, you can tell Kent’s main goal on this CD is to draw you “closer” in your personal relationalship with the Lord. It is one of his more intimate recordings. Many of the songs are slower, very worship oriented, but there are some upbeat tracks, like #4 “Shout Out”, #9 “You Know Me”, #11 “I Bow”, and #12 “Send Your Fire”.
The whole CD has a very strong “drawing you closer in worship” style, but two songs “Draw Near” and “Send Your Fire” were special stand-outs for us.

"Closer"

  Kent Henry's has made several specifically devotional recordings, this being his first in conjunction with Jim and Will Stern, who not only produce the album but also make musical contributions throughout. Kent calls it the merging of old and young, the blending of wisdom and strength. The depth of intimacy expressed in the first track's opening words (penned by Will Stern) set the pace for the entire recording;

'I want to be close with You / no longer to be only close to You /... All of
me is ready to die to feel Your presence one more time...'

Kent then shares recent material from his own songbook as well as one or two spontaneous moments - included is the catchy 'I bow' which rises into a powerful chorus of praise, and the deeply atmospheric 6-min 'Draw near'. Interspersed amongst these are two delightful tracks written and sung by Jim Stern - the former initially appearing on his own debut album "No Compromise"; - the passionate burn of the lyrically honest 'Obsession', composed by Delirious?' Martin Smith; and Hillsong's 'I give You my heart', featuring the unusual, tender vocals of Ariel Henry. Veteran Henry closes with his '96 'Send Your fire' (featured on Hosanna's "So Close To You") which here has a provocative drum-based intro, then settles into a flowing stream of worship before rising again into a stirring mix of percussion, guitar and potent intercession.
Jim and Will's programming work takes real effect on track 8 and on the soft shuffle sound of 'Talking to God', while their production work is excellent everywhere. This is an unusual but endearing venture - wonderfully intimate and certain to be a blessing to those who desire to be drawn 'closer'.
