Comments from back of CD: “The Sounds and music on
this CD will inspire you deeply as you open your heart to hear and see into the invisible realm. You are truly more than what you have become. The Kingdom is the limit and once you discover the true source
of Life and line up your thoughts and actions with the One Who created you, you will never be the same. Step out of your limitations and enter into the realm that is more real than the system you have become
part of. As you take the time to listen to this musical creation and soak up the words of life, you will change from the inside out!” |

Comments from back of CD: What is a “Journey in Contemplation?” It is simply and purely practicing the Presence of the living Christ during a time of quiet prayer. For so many, prayer has become a mechanical task
or hopelessly vague. But what if prayer could be a real meeting with a living Friend? What if our times with God included hearing His voice, gazing on His face, and feeling His loving touch? I’m not talking about an
abstract concept, but real, interactive fellowship with Jesus Christ.
Elisha once needed to hear from the Lord and made an interesting request “Bring me a harpist.” In the Psalms too, worship and biblical
meditation go hand in hand. God is pleased to use rhythms and melodies to suggest venues where He wants to take us. As you listen to this CD, I suggest sitting comfortably and offering every part of your heart, mind,
and imagination to the Lordship of Christ. Perhaps you could meet Him at the doorway of your heart and pray, “Lord Jesus, if I were to follow you through that door today, what would you want to show me?” |

Gotta confess, the spiritual theme of 'sowing a seed' sends a slight shiver down my spine - knowing how this teaching
has on occasions been misused by church leaders seeking to rake big bucks into their ministries. However, if treated wisely, the principle can be helpful, and it doesn't have to involve finances. Here on the second
'concept' album from Peter Helms and Rene Piet, the two Dutch visionaries follow the story of Mary, young and vulnerable, who conceived the Seed of heaven, so becoming a channel for God's eternal
purposes.
The music is as novel and eclectic as on the preceding Land of Promise - which studied the life of Ruth - but there are several differences of note. While Piet again wrote all the music
(save for one J. S. Bach piece) and Helms the lyrics, there is (thankfully) hardly any spoken narrative this time round. Further, the deeply impressive lead vocals come from Recabite newcomer Jacques Jooste
from South Africa (who previously trained with professional opera singer, Evan Schoombie) and, on a couple of tracks, from YWAM leader Talitha Nawijn. Styles vary constantly and delightfully, from soft pop
sounds to inspirational jazz, from theatrical pieces to the haunting, ethereal 'How will it be', from the funky shuffle of 'Catch the word'
to classical tones on the piano-based title-tune and the delectable 'Ave Mashiach'. And, as if all that's not enough, the closing 'Dance' is indeed.......a contemporary dance celebration!
Through all these proceedings, Rene's programming, sequencing and keyboards make high impression, as do all the other musical grains that texture the album. These enterprising guys have taken a big risk with a project
like this, but there's no question it has hit off. Captivating stuff, with little that's bland or samey - I can't wait to see where their next work will take them!

This CD is probably different from what you are used to. Our purpose is not to entertain you, but to allow the Holy Spirit to breathe on
your heart strings and to stir an awakening in your spirit, so that as you listen, you will find your spirit rising to the call of the Lord. Peter Helms |

How's this for an international concept - the creation of Peter Helms and Rene Piet
(both of the Recabite Band) from the Netherlands, Land of Promise was
recorded in Kelowna, Canada, part-mixed and mastered in a small village in Germany, and now available for online purchase from Minneapolis, USA! Conceived by Peter and wife Anne-Marie, who dreamt and prayed it into
being, this studio album gives contemporary application to the book of Ruth through inspirational songs and diverse, atmospheric instrumentals, often superimposed with inspired readings of exhortation from Peter.
The over-riding vision is to encourage Christians to walk in the fullness of their spiritual calling. Like Ruth and Naomi, we can so
often find ourselves in the land of 'leftovers' (Moab), in which situation we too often allow ourselves to comfortably settle. But God would call us back to the house of bread (Bethlehem), to the land of Promise
and Praise (Judah). Thus, this sonic voyage acts as a journey through life. The music is wonderfully varied and most sensitively performed. The songs are led by Angie DeMark and Lori Bussani and are especially
delightful, standouts including the gently soulful 'Cover me' and the emotive song of repentance 'I'm returning' (which in fact first appeared on Don Potter's recent Live from Holland release).
Narrated parts are occasionally a bit lengthy for my personal liking, and the live improvisation of track nine is kinda unique! But then, so is the entire album, and there's no
doubt that on the whole it all works remarkably well. Can't wait to hear next disc in the series (based on another Book in the Bible). Meantime, if you find the cover design ('Desert Bride' by Donna Smallenberg)
both intriguing and attractive, then I can assure you - so too are the album's contents!
