Stephen and Star Smith lead the Smith Band from their home base in Houston, Texas. Along with a dedicated group of touring players, they travel the country in a big red van.

  Stephen Smith grew up in Florida and learned to play guitar in Young Life. Star Smith grew up in Houston and has been singing since birth! After their marriage, worship ministry seemed the most natural next step in the flow of life. Their desire is to lead worship that is transformational. They believe that God has called them to use their talents to raise Him up thereby drawing all people to Himself. They frequently remark from the platform that their job is more about getting on stage and getting out of the way rather than putting on “the big show” for people in attendance.

  The Smith Band’s ministry began and is still rooted in the local church.  Over the years, the band has traveled to lead worship for conferences, bible studies and churches all over the country.  For three years the band led worship for Metro, a weekly Bible study for young singles. Currently, the Smiths lead 5,000 college students in worship each week at Breakaway on the campus of Texas A&M Univ. in College Station.

  The latest project, “Wonderworld,” ( containing all original music) was written from the Smith’s experiences as worship leaders over the years.  Each song is meant to express the might and wonder of God. Stephen said the project is meant to encourage listeners to join all of creation in the constant praise lifted to God. He said “Wonderworld” seeks to connect people to that eternal anthem.
