This band has been gripping British audiences for years, with it's unique blend of jazz, funk and rock, encasing
God-centred lyrics which are powerfully promoted by Louise Fellingham's stunningly versatile vocals. Following a thoroughly successful and Spirit breathed 'acoustic' side-concert in a cattle
shed at the ultimate Stoneleigh event in 2001, the band was prompted to play a few more 'unplugged' sessions in various towns throughout the UK. This 13-song disc, Phatfish's first 'live'
set, was recorded at these sell-out shows, and features little more than 'a small drum kit, bass, guitar, piano and three sets of vocal chords', along with a little extra help from a few close
friends!
There's no question this 'minimal' format brings out the beauty of Louise's voice - and Sandeman's excellent piano - supremely, also giving fresh exposure to the team's creative
song-writing genius. A number of tunes are chosen from last year's epic Heavenbound, while the delicate 'River of life' takes us back to the early days of '95 and three other songs are brand
spanking new! Stuart Townend and Kate Simmonds (both of whom lead worship in same Brighton church as this fivesome) each make guest appearance with one of their own songs; so too does folkster Brian Houston
with a beautifully pensive version of his 'Miracle in my heart'.
The entire album carries a definite worship flavour and if you haven't yet heard the dramatically visionary
'There is a day' anthem, then you just gotta get this! At 63 minutes, this is great v-f-m, even more attractive given that a chunk of sale proceeds get directed through Hope HIV to help orphaned
HIV kids throughout Africa. Unplugged Hope? From start to
finish, this gorgeous record simply oozes it!
