The event just gets bigger and bigger. At this year's Soul Survivor, attendance was up 42% - with 21,500
young people gathering from across the UK and abroad over the 15 days festival. The prayer-theme of the occassion was the cry of Moses in Exodus 33: 'Lord, show us Your Glory.'
He did, and recorded here are a few reminders of those exciting days.
Taking part musically > a large chunk of Survivor's home-grown artists, both past - Matt Redman has now moved on
to fresh pastures - and present. Plus, a special appearance from Louise Fellingham & Phatfish, rendering one of their most recent, outstanding praise anthems. And that's partly what makes these
'Glimpses' so special; a great majority of these tunes are
fresh out of the pot - you found them first here!
Tim Hughes showcases three new songs + a profound and
powerful delivery of Smitty's beloved 'Angus Dei'. Smash hit of the occasion, however, was Tim's 'Beautiful One', written only a week or so before the event, and played to huge universal appeal
(it's also included here as a CD-Rom with chord sheet & acetate). Two further self-composed gems come from the less-profiled Martyn Layzell, and one romper from colleague David Gate
; while the Redman shares his emotional, hymn-like 'Befriended' and an additional chorus.
Surely the most moving moment is saved till last - an unhurried acoustic ballad (lasting 8
minutes), which focuses on the 'God of comfort'; though it sounds too structured and tidy to be a 'spontaneous'
song as billed......shows how sensitive to the Spirit this man of worship really is. A glimpse of glory indeed, though only one of many. Why not catch something of the experience for yourself - the view is awesome.
