The cover art may not be as attractive as that fronting last year's debut record from south England's namelessmusic,
but that's not the only difference between the two releases from this visionary five-piece led by Aldershot worship leader Tim Sherrington. For while Undone appeared on the popular Kingsway label and
consisted of songs written by Tim over a period of time, For Your Glory
mainly captures tunes created on occasions of band rehearsal or during times of live worship.
Perhaps this helps explain why
these new songs are more immediately worshipful, more directly God-focused, yet perhaps less craftily constructed musically and lyrically than those on the striking debut. However, with regard to sheer energy and
spiritual intensity, this is an even more potent set. In Brit-rock worship style the team's driving praise anthems thoroughly stir the heart, mind and body. From songs with several verses + chorus to simple two-line
refrains - such as the opening 'Hosanna' and 'Who is like the Lord' - these powerful tunes rise in atmosphere as, with gutsy passion, the band lose themselves in abandoned worship, often leading to
spontaneous expressions (and partly explaining why four songs each last over 7 minutes!) There are gentler moments too for sure, such as the reflective 'Lost in grace' shuffle; while the closing 'Face the Son'
- with added bonus - is an adorational classic and a throbbing delight - eliciting a vibey U2 feel!
Every one of these songs is eminently suitable not only for drawing one into a time of deep personal
worship, but also for use - 'in spirit and in truth' - within your own congregation; so helping fulfil namelessmusic's essential and ongoing raison d'etre. The band's songs have already been snapped
up for use on various other projects (such as Kingsway's Live 2001 and Toronto's Catch the Fire 7 releases). With tunes as fine as these, it's not hard to guess why!
